Disease of the Circulatory System

Hypertension
Blood flows through the blood vessels with a force greater than normal i.e. with a blood pressure reading of 140/90
When the blood pushes harder against the walls of your arteries, your blood pressure goes up
Prevention
         Quit smoking
         Exercise regularly
         Reduce amount of sodium
         Eating a healthy diet

Coronary Heart Disease/ Heart attack
A heart attack happens when the flow of oxygen-rich blood to a section of heart muscle suddenly becomes blocked and the heart can’t get oxygen.
If blood flow isn’t restored quickly, the section of heart muscle begins to die.
         Coronary Heart disease
CHD is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the coronary arteries.
When plaque builds up in the arteries, the condition is called atherosclerosis
The buildup of plaque occurs over many years.
         Coronary thrombosis-blood clot

Signs of heart attack

Chest pain or discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center or left side of the chest.

Upper body discomfort: in one or both arms, the back, shoulders, neck, jaw, or upper part of the stomach
         Shortness of breath

Causes
Cigarette smoking: nicotine both put a strain on the heart by making it work faster. They also increase your risk of blood clots.
Diet: diet high in saturated fat, will cause blood cholesterol levels will rise.
High blood pressure: Having poorly controlled high blood pressure  can weaken the coronary arteries
         Being overweight or obese
         Lack of physical activity

Cigarette smoke
Cause Constrict blood vessels, and increase blood pressure
Increase change of blood clots formation in arteries

About 22,700 to 69,600 premature deaths from heart and blood vessel disease are caused by other people's smoke each year.
